We ate breakfast in the room. Toast with butter and jam, and some cereal and fruit. Nice and light. This time, we drove to Napili Bay. Parking was difficult, but we found one. This time, we ventured round the bend (south) from the Gazebo and came up a small rocky bay where we'd heard there were turtles! So we had to try it.
This is Honokeana Bay. We got into the water where those folks are standing, on that rocky landing. The water was sorta swirly because of the rocks, but we were able to get in and out without getting hurt. Just a little tricky.
It says no trespassing, but I think that's just so we don't completely ruin their landscaping.
Some sea urchins on the rocks.
It's a bit cloudy, but there were lots of turtles. Maybe 15. A couple of them floated right up to the surface, very close to us, took a few big gulps of air and then gently floated down.
That's me and the green floaty tube. Brendan and I shared a tube and we like being together.
Some of the fishies
Since the turtle place was quite rocky, we couldn't stay there, so we put all our stuff down on the beach at Napili Bay. After a while, Mom went to the Gazebo to wait in line for lunch. But no line, so she waited at a table with this view.
And we are finally coming round.
But we can't get enough of the water.
They gave us Wiki Stix, so guess what I made?
Turtle!
What did Brendan make?
On our way back from lunch, we saw a few turtles "playing" in the crashing waves.
They were being tossed up on the rocks and they were really close to us. Really close.
After some more beach time, we packed up and drove north to mile marker 38 to see the Nakalele Blowhole. It was a very winding road with some great views. Some people had ventured down the path to the blowhole, but we weren't wearing proper hiking shoes or even sneakers so we decided to stay up top. Brendan was scared I would fall, so he was holding onto me...just in case.
On the way back, we stopped to check out the view. Brendan and I were getting a little burnt on this day, so we didn't want to spend too much time outdoors. Ouch!
Heading out to dinner. My arms aren't burnt since I wear a long sleeve rashguard.
Waiting in the car with our Maui mints for dinner at Star Noodle. We had to wait 45 minutes. Thank goodness for mints and ipods!
More waiting.
The food was yummy, but eh, not really worth the wait. Maybe we are spoiled, but we can get this kind of food at home....:) Those are malasadas, which were kind of like beignets or those chinese egg puffs. But denser. I prefer beignets.
Star Noodle has a long long table that people share. We sat next to this couple, Richard and Carol. They were very nice and we chatted about things to do in Maui. They own a company called Aloha Motorsports where they rent out motorbikes, scooter and stuff. They also rent out Scoot Coupes and they told us to come by and they'd give is a discount on the Scoot Coupes. They came with another couple and that guy, Stephen (with a PH) was from New Orleans! How crazy, right?
Another night view of the hotel
Night swimming! Yes!
