Thanksgiving

We had a week off from school, so we went to New Orleans to see Mah Mah, Yeh Yeh and Auntie CC.  It was a good week.  But flying there was terrible as there was a lot of turbulence.  Mom did not feel good at all.  And that's putting it lightly.

Of course, off to church with Mah Mah

Messing around with the pool tools

Always a visit to great grandma...

Family photo day...

Trying to find the perfect spot is always hard.

Too bad the tree behind us is dead....

Fail

Trying to be cute....gee...what is not working here?

What's a trip to New Orleans without eating beignets?

Again, scouting locations

Another beef wellington dinner....

Looks like we found a winner spot!

And again...trying to be cute....so not working.

And more beignets

GW Fins is my new favorite.

Beef Wellington a la Gordon Ramsay

So last year, I watched this Gordon Ramsay show called Master Chef Junior.  They made all kinds of delicious looking dishes, but one that really intrigued me was Beef Wellington.  You know, I'm a meat eater.  And despite the fact that it has mushrooms in it, I still wanted to try it.  Apparently, not that many restaurants serve it....so we decided to make it ourselves.

I did my research.  I watched a youtube video of Gordon Ramsay making it and I made notes.  I watched it many times.

Cooking off the liquid in the mushroom paste.

After I seared the beef, I slathered it with some English mustard.

I don't like mushrooms, but in BW, it's delicious!

Waiting...

Golden brown perfection

After I let it rest...let's eat.

Okay, I need some help.

Tadaaa!

Well, except for all the juices.

But oh was it good!

The beef was cooked perfectly and the whole thing was extra yummy!

Masterchef Cameron?

Have you seen that show?  Masterchef Junior?  OMG.  I love that show.  It's awesome.  And amazing.  Those kids cook better than Mom.  Don't tell her though.  I was somewhat inspired by them, so have started sometimes, helping Mom and Dad in the kitchen.
Yum

Ok...Mom made those cutout bears...

Helping make the chicken pot pie soup!
