Whistler 2018 - Ski Week

So after spending many days sick as a dog....with Strep throat (at first I was diagnosed with the flu and was sent home with Tamiflu...but the 3rd day I woke up with a bright red rash.  Mom freaked out and made a dr's appt....I went in and was diagnosed with Scarlet Fever!!!!  And strep.  Thankfully, it was all treatable with antibiotics and in 48hours I was already feeling better.  I finally started to eat my regular sized meals (instead of taking 3 days to eat an order of Tegone Hamburg Curry)...and I went back to school for a couple days.  

Then...off to Whistler.  Where there was so  much snow and it was so so so cold.  Mom put on everything under her jacket...and she was still cold.  But the snow was pretty good and they were really long runs.  Though I have to say that we should have gone to Lake Louise.  There wasn't as much variety in runs...and some were downright terrible.  And still, it was cold.

First Day of 8th grade!

Here we are on the first day of school!  It's my last year in middle school.

Toothpick Tower

This is my sad tower....I only got 3 books on there...but 25 extra credit points in math...and in science.

Organizing???

Mom thought this was a miracle.  She has been asking me to organize my schoolwork in a binder...but I kind of liked one folder for EVERYTHING.  But I finally took the plunge...and spent some time organizing my work into a binder!  What?  Yup!

1st day of 7th grade

First day of 7th.  I'm much taller after growing like a weed over the summer.  I'm taller than mom.  On my birthday I was 5' 1.5"...and now I'm pretty sure I'm 5' 3".

Science Expo - Tower

The Science Expo at school was for extra credit and Mom and Dad said it would be a good idea to try it.  We had the choice of building a tower, a bridge, a catapult or do the traditional science fair board.  I decided to go for the tower.  We could use 1 box of flat toothpicks, glue and a spool of thread.  Also, there was a specific base and top size.  That part was given to us by the teacher.  And it could only weigh 71 grams. Oh, and the tower had to be able to hold at least 2 science books.  All these things had to met to qualify.  Mine came in at 70.1 grams and I knew it would take at least 4 books.

2 students went at a time and stacked books on their tower...this picture isn't me, but you can see that the books flattened this girls tower.  Smoosh.

I got to 19 books and then I tried to adjust the stack....and it came down.  There were loads more people after me, so the winning tower held 34 books....I still have a couple years to improve my tower.  Nice try though, huh?

2nd school dance

I went to the 3rd school dance of the year, but only my 2nd.  I forgot why I missed the 2nd one.  Anyhow, it was fun.  Mostly just hung out with my friends.

First School Dance

I went to my first school dance.  It was a Halloween themed party, but I didn't dress up.  Halloween is for babies.  I didn't really want to go, but Dad thought it would be good to at least try it.  So I went. And it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting.  Some of my friends were there, so it was okay.  Plus, they had food....chips, cookies...yum.  I was eating all the snacks.  They also had a scary haunted house thing...but I'd say it was kinda lame.  Oh well.  It was pretty fun.  This picture is with my friends Christina and Emily.

First Day of Middle School

It was the first day of school....middle school...or you could call it junior high.  

This year, I go to school from 8-2:20pm.  I have dance classes 3 times a week, and also chinese classes and guitar.  It's a pretty full schedule, but I think I can handle it.  Maybe not so much the chinese.....

It's not walkable like my elementary school, so I have to be driven.  We're still working out drop off and pick ups....it's complicated and there are way more students at this school.  We were kind of spoiled being able to walk to school.  

Last day of Elementary School

Well, it's the last day of school....I'm gonna be a  6th grader....yikes.

Science Camp 2015

I went to Science camp this week.  It was a little crazy.  All the 5th graders went.. so that's a lot of kids.  The teachers and several chaperones came too.  We slept on bunk beds...and I only showered 1 time.  Mom told me to shower every day, but the showers were super crowded and super yucky, so I couldn't do it.  I came home smelly.  I also don't have any pictures because I didn't get into any.  Teachers took pictures...but eh, I wasn't interested.  I had fun, but you know, the food wasn't good and we were tired...cuz we walked a lot.  Overall, it was a good experience, but it would be nicer if there were more showers.

First Day of 5th Grade

It's the first day of 5th grade.  I'm so tired.  I wish I could sleep in.  This is gonna be hard.  What time do I have to wake up again?

Yeah, I'm still sleeping.  Or, I'd like to be.

4th grade Orchestra

In 4th grade, we can opt to be in Orchestra.  I did and chose violin as my instrument.  I think it's pretty easy for me to read notes because I already have experience with guitar.   I don't practice much though, since I practice guitar at home and don't have a lot of time to practice violin too.

T-Shirt quilt

Mom made me a quilt!  She used all my old t-shirts!  There's my kinder Class of 2010 shirt, then my tie dye first grade shirt, then 2nd and 3rd.  Plus some walkathon tshirts and even shirts from preschool!  Wow.  Thanks Mom!

Sacramento Field Trip

My class got to go to Sacramento for a field trip.  It was ALL day!  We had to be at school at 7 in the morning and because there was some traffic on the way home, we didn't get home until 7 at night!  We were super tired.  But it was fun.  We rode nice big bus with TV's and we watched a couple movies on the way there and back.  We visited the Capitol and the Railroad Museum.
