Day 13 - Back to Frankfurt to catch our flight

Our last day in Germany...was just a travel day.  We had to get from Wolfsburg to Frankfurt.  It's about 3 1/2 hours in the car...plus traffic or construction or what not.
First stop...OBI...which is the German version of Home Depot/Lowes....they gave us free gummy bears.

For lunch, we stopped in a small university town called Gottingen.  We explored the old town and had our last Karstadt lunch.  So sad.  They also gave us gummy bears.  Can't get enough of them!

We ate at a local restaurant in Schwanheim, near the airport outside of Frankfurt.

The next day....up early and ready to go home.

Nice Lego Airbus A380!!!

Ready to go home!

Crazy us. We had an early flight, which meant we had to be at the airport early.  And then B and I stayed up on the 10+ hour flight watching tv and movies on the screen....we are crazy!

Germany Day 11 - Wolfsburg

Woke up nice and early to make the 2+hour drive to Wolfsburg in time for our English WerkTour.  We made it, but didn't really have time to eat lunch, so we had smoothies instead.  It held us over till we were able to sit down for lunch.

No pictures were allowed on the tour.  We rode a boat about 5 minutes down river to another dock.  They unloaded us and we got on a tram.  The tram took us through the factory where we watched them assemble some cars.  They were making the Golf.  Then we got off the tram and onto another bus that took us back to Autostadt.  It was interesting, but too long for me.  I was hungry.

We had lunch at the pizza place inside Autostadt.  Brendan decided to make his own pizza.

Toppings...

Waiting patiently.

Yummy pizza!

Next we went to driving school.

It's actually supposed to be in German only, but we went anyhow.  She tried to translate for us.

What's this?  Can I drive that?

Nope, got a bug.

The view from the "roads".

Seatbelt on, I'm ready to go.

Can this thing go any faster?

Oops...fender bender....

These buttons make music and/or spray water or fire...and a couple of them go "BOOM!"

Checking out the car elevator...we get to ride tomorrow!

These chairs are everywhere.

Finally, swimming "in" the lake!  Nah, it's just the Ritz Carlton pool!

Ahhh, nice bath tub!

Germany Day 9 - Hamburg - Miniatur Wunderland

Breakfast at the Superbude.  It was all you can eat, so we usually ate a lot.  You can even make yourself a fresh waffle.  So good!

Miniatur Wunderland.  It was amazing and we spent several hours here.  It turns to night every 15 minutes or so and we would stay and watch once cycle for almost each scene.  I don't usually like trains, but this place was pretty good.

Look a the detail!

This was a concert.  They had tiny video screens.  So cool.

A Campingplatz.

The airport was amazing.  Planes took off and landed and then they even taxied to their gates.  They also had a space shuttle landing.  When the space shuttle landed, all these emergency vehicles came out to escort the shuttle to the hanger.  Crazy!

This was the chocolate factory.  If you pushed a button, a chocolate would come out...."freshly wrapped".

The control room.

That's our plane!

They even had Las Vegas!!

This was the only part with real water.  The boats moved.

Now this is real.  This is just outside the museum.

Having lunch at Fleetschlosschen.  A cute little building on the side of the canal.  They only served a salad and a couple sandwiches, but that was good enough for us. We had a big breakfast.

Now this is real.  This is the Hamburg Hauptbahnhof.  They did have a model of it at Miniatur Wunderland.  Looked just like this.

For dinner, we had French food and B had to have his escargot.  He ate them all!
